How does an Energy Drink affect your body?

Health experts issued a warning about the impact of energy drinks that are loaded with sugar, caffeine and other stimulants.

Scientists claim that consuming just one energy drink a day increases the risk of heart disease.

Experts from an American research group at Mayo Clinic published a study that involved about 25 volunteers. They had a task to drink a large can of energy drink, which is available in normal sales.

The results showed that consuming this drink increased the blood pressure after only half an hour. There were also elevated levels of the hormone “nor-epinephrine” in the blood, as well as elevated levels of caffeine in the body.

All this was recently presented at a meeting which was organized by the American Association for heart health. Nor-epinephrine is a chemical substance that increases the pressure and the ability of cardiac contraction. In addition, it modulates the heart rate and the breathing in a form of stress.

These acute changes can cause heart problems and are predispositions for increased cardiovascular risk.

    1. Although, sometimes you may get tempted to reach for an energy drink and just like any other harmful drink or food, it is best consumed in moderation.
